Topic 6: Image fusion using wavelet transform

  1. Read and discuss the papers by S. Li et al. and Hui Li et al..
  2. Try to implement both methods to compare their performances.
  3. Compare your results with MATLAB built-in function wfusimg(). Describe the differences.
  4. Choose two of the mentioned objective quality measures in SECTION IV of S. Li et al. to assess the quality of fusion. You don’t need to implement them by yourself and you are free to use the available codes (like SSIM in MATLAB) for this part.
  5. Find online similar image pairs (e.g. CT and MRI image pairs) as those presented in the papers. You can also acquire your own image pairs for fusion. Fuse those images.
