Two point masses are placed on a slope. They will slide down under the influence of gravity. The red mass does so without any friction. The blue one feels a frictional force that is proportional to the normal force from the slope. The proportionality constant is μ
The masses will slide down. Make a model of the motion and check your result by inspecting the graphs on the right. These show the x-coordinate of both masses as well as the absolute value of the velocity.
For what condition does the blue particle not move?
